Beach Handball

Alanya is not only a tourism centre but is also a city where many organised sporting events are held. International organisations supply important support to our town's promotional activitys.

Alanya Municipality had presented the idea of running Beach Hanball alongside the already succesful Beach Vollyball and Football tornements and created the first Beach Hanndball federation, resulting in the first Handball championship in 2002.

Following this successful event another was planned for 2003, this event has been running every year since. Each championship is held in Alanya.

European Handball Federation (EHF) General Secretary Michael Wiederer, EHF Beach Handball Coordinator Peter Frzschl, Turkish Handball Federation (THF) President Ganal Ensari, THF European Championship Coordinator Burak Tezcan, had a meeting and they observed the facilities were adequate and signed the contract for Europe Beach Handball Championship to be held in Alanya.

It has been announced that more than 1000 players from 20 different countries would participate so travel agencies have preparations for the hotel reservations. Many newspaper and TV journalists have been invited for this event which will support the both Alanya and Turkey's ongoing promotional activity.

During their visit Wiederer and Frischl looked very happy and also stated that they are sure that result of this cooperation of Alanya Municipality and THF would bring satisfactory benefits to the region now and in the future.
